St. John’s/St. Ann’s Outreach Center has provided our neighbors in the South End with emergency supplemental food and various other essential services for over 40 years.  The Center, located in a former firehouse, is an outreach ministry of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany. 

Why does the South End need St. John’s/St. Anne’s Outreach Center? Almost half of the households in Albany’s South End with children under the age of 18 live at or below the Federal Poverty Level. Ten percent of the residents are 65 years or older and 70% of this group are grandparents who are responsible for grandchildren 18 years or younger. Approximately 35% of the population in the South End between the ages of 21 and 64 are disabled which prevents them from obtaining employment.
